Sales Representative to Attend Conventions and Retailers

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Historical Conquest is an educational materials company, selling merchandise and software, spanning from physical educational games to online history curriculum. We have two divisions in sales we are building: sales to schools and sales at conventions and retailers. You can move between the two, but right now, we need you to focus on conventions and selling to retailers and distributors.

ARE YOU: someone with experience, and connections, selling retail? If possible, we are looking for someone with experience selling educational materials.

We are looking for representatives who are very outgoing, well-spoken, and who pay attention to details. We don't want someone to just sit behind the table in our booth, but someone who will speak to strangers and sell them something they weren't expecting to buy, or didn’t know they needed..

RESPONSIBILITIES: Here are the main responsibilities of this position:

  • Attend conventions throughout the country, including homeschool, teachers, games, toys, and hobby conventions. We currently have a schedule for your summer conventions, but will need you to build your own schedule of conventions you would like to attend.

  • Contact retailers around the U.S., but especially those where we have schools using our materials, and those around each convention you are attending.

  • Manage the sales materials that are needed to fulfill your advertising.

  • Make cold calls to past customers and potential retailers that may be interested in selling HC.

  • Continue large distributors and box stores franchises to sell at their stores. We already have a few started. We will help you build these relationships.

  • Use Social Media to make connections with potential buyers.

  • Extra sales point: We guarantee the product will sell within the year, or the retailers receive their money back.

Ultimately, we are looking for a sales manager. The person who can make the sales, show team player and leadership attributes, and bring results, will find themselves over a division, or even over the entire Sales Department.

WHAT TO EXPECT: You will be traveling to conventions around the country most of the year, via plane or car. Here is a “normal” schedule for conventions:

  • Homeschool Conventions - Thursday through Saturday, 8AM-7PM

  • Toy/Book/Hobby Fairs - Tuesday through Sunday, 8AM - 7PM

  • Teacher's Conventions - Monday through Friday, 9AM - 5PM

MARKETING PLAN: Here is a summary of how our marketing/sales plan works. As we get into more schools and the students enjoy our products, they will look for our physical merchandise as well. This allows us to sell to retailers, such as Scholastic Book Fairs. The more we become popular in public schools, the more our retailers and large box stores will want to sell our product. The marketing is really happening inside the schools that enjoy what we are producing. Until we get into more schools, we need to sell at conventions and retailers, to pay for our endeavors.

PAY: Here is how we pay:

  • Your base pay is $1,000.

  • For each sale at a convention you attend, you will receive 20%, if you attend by yourself, or 10% of all sales if you have more than one representative.

  • You will receive 10% commission on all sales made after the convention, with your unique discount code.

  • You will receive 20% commission on all retail sales you make, and all consecutive sales they make. They will be your account to claim.

  • You will receive 10% commission on all large box store orders or national/international distributors. We are already working on contracting with Wal-Mart and Target. You would receive this commission on these, if you can finalize them.

  • Though this is not your main concern, if you find a school or district to sign up, you will receive 20% commission on their order, and all consecutive orders.

  • If you become a manager, you will receive 5% of all sales your team makes, and the accounts you keep consistent.

Please contact us, if you think you are a good fit and want to be part of this plan.

Job Types: Full-time, Commission

COVID-19 considerations:

When you attend conventions, we ask that you wear face masks out of respect for those you serve. We are not mandating the vaccine, but highly recommend that you do take it if you worry about attending these conventions.
